Classical Piano with Jaime S.

Jaime is a charismatic and versatile musician and performing artist who has performed nationally and internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and vocalist. Jaime is also a classically trained dancer with extensive experience in musical theater. She has been performing since age 4 and teaching since 15 (20+ years experience). Degrees: double flute performance and piano performance/pedagogy B.A. and masters level classes in music performance. Currently preparing for Van Cliburn Competition 2020. Jaime is passionate about the musical arts and has won awards and competitions in all her areas of study ~ piano, flute, piccolo, voice, and dance. Such highlights include: White House Christmas Music performances (two years), 2012 Second Prize Winner of the Alexander Buono International Flute Competition in New York City; winner of the 'Viva Vivaldi' Young Artist International Concerto Competition (Kennedy Center solo performance with the Washington (D.C.) Chamber Symphony). She has performed within six countries across Europe, at musically and historically valuable venues, such as the Westminster Abbey Cathedral in London, at the White House in Washington D.C., and many other various festivals and masterclasses throughout the United States and Europe. PEDAGOGY PHILOSOPHY: Jaime wants to share her classical music knowledge and love for music with anyone who is wanting and willing to learn. She provides piano, flute, & voice lessons and tutors in various music subjects: music history, literature, theory, ear-training, and performance preparation, and audition/competition preparation. Jaime believes in a holistic form of teaching. She believes in getting “Back to the Basics.” Her pedagogical approach incorporates the use and awareness of psychophysics (awareness of physiology & psychology) and the Alexander Technique and others, as well as language (especially foreign language), singing (awareness of voice & the body) for flute and voice training. Jaime draws from the expertise and pedagogical wisdom of the wonderful teachers and world renown musicians with whom she has studied.
