Goodwill Industries

• Teach English Literacy & Civics course to non-native speakers residing in the US. Prepare students for their citizenship test. • Integrate grammar and speaking skills into lessons oriented toward improving the civic lives of the local immigrant population.

ELS Language Centers

• Taught a wide range of courses in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for all proficiency levels: Structure and Speaking Practice, Reading and Writing, Vocabulary Enrichment, Current Events, Idioms, Advanced Presentation. • Created dynamic lessons, activities, and assessments to enrich students’ learning experience. • Evaluated the proficiency of incoming students.

Jefferson Prep

• Contracted by test prep. agency to independently conduct a 14-week ESL class to hotel employees. • Using an outline of goals created by the hotel and Jefferson prep, I structured weekly lessons, created PowerPoint presentations, worksheets and tests. • Utilized a variety of ESL approaches to educate a diverse range of students from beginner to advances, many of them working in the United States as refugees.

Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council

• Worked one-on-one twice a week with a foreign ESL student.

Community Libraries

• Ran a two-session writing workshop titled “How to write your memoir” for South Park Library. • Ran three creative-writing workshops for Whitehall Public Library. One for teenagers and two for adults. • Provided constructive feedback to students written work, encouraged their ideas, assisted them in envisioning revisions. Collaborated with students on writing projects to create a sense of community.
