Clarinet with Jacob L.

I am a professional musician and private instructor in the Columbus area. Previously, I performed with the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra as second and E-flat clarinet, and currently sub with orchestras in Ohio. For the last two years, I taught at Ohio State University’s Clarinet Academy - the same institution where I earned my Master of Music. Additionally, I pursue musicology as a hobby, having presented at multiple research conferences, and have years of experience as a piano accompanist. As a teacher, I focus not just on presenting and reinforcing skills, but guiding students through the underlying mechanics of playing (which aids the skills side as well!). The curriculum will vary based on each student’s needs and goals. While I will push to get you to the next level, I believe in promoting a constructive and supportive learning environment. My experience covers the whole clarinet family, so feel free to reach out even if your focus is not on soprano clarinet!
