My name is Jake! I am from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I have a Bachelors degree from The University of Akron in Trumpet Performance and a Masters degree from Louisiana State University, also in Trumpet Performance. I have been teaching private trumpet lessons for about 7 years. In this time, I have worked with hundreds of students ranging in age and skill level, from beginners at the age of 10 years old to advanced college students.
Every student is different and learns differently. As an experienced teacher, I believe we need to have a multitude of routes to the same destination. I also believe in the potential for greatness in every student. It takes hard work, but I am happy to guide your child to reaching their full potential. The majority of my teaching is centered on creating a beautiful sound and making music.
Kids’ Orchestra is the largest after school music program for Kindergarten through fifth-grade students in the United States. Nearly 800 students from across East Baton Rouge Parish are enrolled in Kids’ Orchestra programming where they study an instrument, perform in an ensemble, and/or sing in a choir.
I taught group trumpet lessons and I conducted one of the Wind Ensembles.
I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the LSU Trumpet Studio. In addition to trumpet lessons to several non-music major trumpet players on a weekly basis, I would regularly fill in for my professor and teach lessons to the entire LSU trumpet studio.
Jacob is great my son loves taking lessons
