    About Jackson P.

I am a professional singer, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, arranger, and composer. I graduated from Western Connecticut State University as a Bachelor of Jazz. I currently actively teach guitar, electric bass, and double bass. Guitar and electric bass students can expect to improve their technique and knowledge of the instrument rapidly through a specific set of parameters I encourage all of my students to follow, in order to build and enhance a connection with their instrument. I teach upright bass, or double bass, students of all different ages and experience levels as well, both arco and pizzicato. I studied electric bass for 18 years, and I applied all of that knowledge along with my rigorous work ethic in my study of the upright bass, to fit 10 years of study into two-and-a-half years while earning my degree. I can teach students to read music, sight read, pursue musical and technical excellence, improve their tone, improvise, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord charts, comprehend the vast world of music theory, play stylistically appropriately, and much more. The direction of the lessons is catered to the goals and preference of the student. I have performed as a vocalist, guitarist, electric bassist, and upright bassist, as well as singing and playing any of those instruments simultaneously. I have performed with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, the great jazz pianist Orrin Evans, Doug Munro of SUNY Purchase, and many others. I have also recorded several albums and EPs, and I am currently working on my debut solo album. I have a love for all genres and enjoy anything that perks up my ears, including but certainly not limited to; jazz, blues, rock, funk, pop, soul, reggae, r&b, hip hop, bluegrass, acapella, punk, rap, metal, folk, classical, fusion, and more. I am constantly learning more music and improving and refining a vast array of traditional and more forward-thinking techniques on my instruments, in my composing tool belt, and in translating musical ideas from my mind to my instrument. I believe that great technique is essential to playing music in any and all genres. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a better musician!
