I began studying music when I was 10, first in my elementary school and throughout high school and college. I have had amazing opportunities to perform with various musical groups across the country, most notably with the 204th Army Band. I also try to play out locally as much as I can. The two groups that I currently play for are the punk band "Omega Moo", and the indie rock band "The Requisite". In addition to these two groups, I also continue to play for the 204th Army Band, which allows me to tour a different part of the world each year. Other than performing, I am also dedicated to sharing and teaching other drummers to reach their musical goals. I teach privately out of my studio, located in North Seattle. *** Lesson Details *** I like to keep an open dialogue with my students to make sure they are having fun and learning what they want. With that in mind, it is also important to keep a balance of what the student will also need to progress. This can include working on technique, or basic rudiments. Here are a few topics that we will cover in our lessons: -How to groove with music and other musicians -Learn proper wrist and finger techniques -Play with power and speed while remaining relaxed -Learn drum beats and fills for your favorite styles and bands -Learn how to play rudiments -Learn how to read music *** Studio Equipment *** I have two professional drum sets for use during lessons: A vintage Gretsch kit, and a custom Shine kit. *** Specialties *** I am proficient in and teach the following: Rock, Funk, Pop, R&B, Hip hop, Hand Technique, Marching, Auxiliary Percussion, as well as basic Jazz and Latin.

I took drum lessons from Jack for about two years. He is patient, offers suggestions that really help, mixes things up and always keeps the lessons and practice fun and interesting, and offers suggestions to make it work for you. I had a great time and learned a lot about drums and music in general. If I ever move back to Seattle, I would hope to take lessons from him again!

Jack is a terrific instructor Jack is such a positive teacher -- incredibly patient, easygoing, technically proficient, friendly. I'm a little older than most of his students so those new drumming pathways take a bit longer to establish but he makes each lesson fun and I feel I always learn at every lesson some new, interesting and challenging technique to practice which keeps me intrigued and eager to continue with lessons!
