I am a professional gigging musician, teacher, producer, and session player with a degree in Music Theory and Guitar performance from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. I've had the pleasure of playing in many bands, opening for such acts as David Grohl with Chevy Metal, The Animals, and Eddie Money. I can teach multiple styles including, but not limited to: rock, blues, jazz, pop, folk, metal, alternative, reggae, and classical guitar. I've taught people of all ages and am proud to see many of them start bands of their own. I take pride in sharing my passion and knowledge to anyone willing to learn, and am ready to take you to the next level of playing music! *** Lesson Details *** First and foremost I'd like to mention that I'm 100% confident in my teaching skills when it comes to any age or skill level. I've taught barebones beginner classes as well as seriously advanced students who have been playing for 10+ years. Get more bang for your buck! What you will receive when purchasing lessons with me: -Custom tailored lesson plans that suit you or your child's specific needs. -A fun, safe, and encouraging learning environment with a highly trained and experienced musician. -A professionally recorded demo cd of you or your child's playing which can be used for auditions, resume's, or personal enjoyment (huge value for your money). -Take home video of any lesson you have with me, so it can be referred to later for practice. -Access to personalized backing tracks for you to jam with at home. My philosophy on teaching and music: Playing music is fun! Period. Learning how to play shouldn't be any different! My lessons are structured and informative, and at the same time fun and relaxing. As far as specifics, lessons are always custom tailored to each student. The first thing I do, is assess the student's skill level, what they hope to learn, and musical tastes. Lesson plans are then designed specifically for each student and directed towards their personal goals and needs. I focus on areas such as, learning to play songs, the proper development of technique, chord and scale theory, ear training, chart reading, rhythm notation, improvisation, and song writing. About every 3 to 6 months, I like to have a student project in which the student gets to record an original or cover song of their choice. The student will then be rewarded with a demo song on CD of his or her playing. This does many things for the student. Not only does it give the student an accurate experience of what it is like to record in a studio environment, but it also gives them something tangible to show for all their hard work and dedication! Lessons can be given either in my home studio, or via Skype, however, lessons given over Skype are limited in features due to distance. Check out this article I wrote for TakeLessons.com! http://takelessons.com/blog/how-to-practice-guitar-every-day-z01 *** Studio Equipment *** I have a fully functioning recording studio at my home with all sorts of awesome equipment. I have a variety of different 6, 7, and 8 string guitars, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers, cabinets, keyboard, synth programs, mixing and mastering software, HD video and editing equipment, drum programming software, microphones, and other various recording gear. *** Travel Equipment *** I provide, teaching material, homework, metronome (although students are required to eventually acquire one of their own), and jam tracks. Students should be able to provide their own instrument. *** Specialties *** I specialize in many styles including Rock, Blues, Jazz, Metal, Fingerstyle Guitar, and Folk.
