Watch my new intro video down below! (hablo español) I play clarinet and bass clarinet. I have a Bachelor of Music from the University of Florida, a performance diploma from Boston Conservatory, and currently working on a Master of Music at DePaul University. Recently I have worked with the Milwaukee Symphony, the conductorless orchestra Unsupervised, and participated in the Orpheus@Mannes program in New York. I have additionally played with Boston Civic. My approach to the clarinet is goal-oriented and focused on making the practicing process easy and fun for the students. I prefer to discuss the goals openly with the student, and then come up with bite size chunks of practice to reach those goals over time. Playing music is like playing a sport; there are a lot of skills to be learned but the results are gratifying and far reaching. I encourage my students to use time-saving methods like ClassicalFingers (finger training) as well as endurance building exercises with simple items like straws and a wall. My main concentrations are orchestral, chamber music, and contemporary music. I will help the student prepare for All-State, Solo/Ensemble, or their wind band/orchestra/audition repertoire. I also will bring duets to help the student learn to play along with others and improve sight-reading ability.

This teacher stood my daughter up for the entire 30 minutes of her first lesson without any notice or explanation after. Very irresponsible. At this point I also have a great doubt on takelessons.com.

Erick is a thorough and patient teacher. My son's techniques have improved since he started taking lessons Erick. Erick even introduced editing music with Garage Band to my son. I like the range of topics he brings to his lessons. My only complaint is Erick's lack of responsiveness to emails. He never responds to correspondence.

If you are considering online lessons with Erick, do it! He is attentive, considerate, kind, informed, proactive and intuitive. My 11 year old has been taking lessons with him since May 2020 and it has been a wonderful experience for our son and for us. We will continue to work with Erick for as we can.
