I was born and grew up in Colombia. I always loved to read and I have read in Spanish most of the classical books like the Man of La Mancha, Romeo and Juliet, Les Miserables, and others. When I was a student at SCSU I created a club for students who wanted to work in the health care field because I wanted to teach Spanish medical terminology, even though I am specialized in Spanish classic literature. I have designed many dynamics for teaching to make sessions fun, for instance; I made skits that included 3 roles: The Doctor, the patient, and the parent of the patient, and the setting would always be in an emergency room. These skits would be performed only in Spanish therefore no English was allowed during the skit. I also evaluate the pronunciation of the student by showing them a Spanish picture dictionary, then I attempt to figure out about the students personal interests, then I keep my conversations in those specific subjects that interest the student.
