Spanish with Irene P.

I am a College educated native Spanish and English speaker who has been teaching and tutoring Spanish for almost 10 years. My goal is to make learning Spanish enjoyable, and I want to help the students feel confident expressing their thoughts and ideas in this foreign language. My approach is student centered, incorporating grammar, verbal comprehension and vocabulary acquisition . I try to lay down a strong foundation that will help the student succeed on every level and eventually attain fluency. I'm often approached by people who tell me that they took Spanish in H.S. or College and are frustrated because they can't understand a native speaker or communicate with them. Most likely they learned the theory of the language but had little opportunity to put it into practice. That is why conversation is such a key component of my teaching. No one can learn any language without developing verbal and listening comprehension skills. With me the student can choose their favorite topic and perfect their conversation skills in an environment where it's ok to make mistakes. I understand the difficulties of learning a foreign language, and I'm very patient with my students. I carefully guide them from point A to point Z, step by step. With this approach, I help them to discover how learning Spanish can be truly rewarding ! I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your goals.
