Hello! My name is Hunter Stricklin and I have been teaching in the Nashville area since 2000. I started off teaching private percussion lessons as well as music composition lessons while teaching at several high schools in the Nashville area, including: Hendersonville H.S., Wilson Central H.S., Centennial H.S., John Overton H.S., Smyrna H.S., and Columbia Central H.S. I attended MTSU and earned a BM in Music Theory & Composition as well as a BM in Music Education. I have been teaching middle school band and general music at Poplar Grove Middle School in Franklin, TN since 2011. I have extensive performance experience as well having performed, taught, and wrote for the World Champion WGI PIW ensemble Music City Mystique from 1998-99, and from 2001-2007. I am published through Tapspace Publications and Warner Brothers. A more extensive list of performance, teaching, and composition experience can be provided upon request.

Hunter is hands down one of the best teachers I've had the chance to perform and work with over my 20+ years in the drumcorps/marching band realm. The knowledge he possesses is impressive in itself but the way he imparts stands out above all. He has a very special ability to read a situation as well as a student and cater the lesson to ensure the student will get the most of the time allowed. If you want to learn, excel, and achieve a higher understanding of your art then Hunter is the one you want teaching you!

I had the privilege of performing under the direction of Hunter on several occasions. His ensemble work is always rigorous, challenging, exacting, and enough fun to create a good team spirit. He is a great teacher in a one on one setting, and his ability to both diagnose errors and prescribe the right fix is uncanny. He's the perfect combination of serious, knowledgeable, professional, and fun. If I still lived in Nashville, I would be thrilled to study with Hunter.

I have worked and performed with Hunter over the past 10 years, and I can say that he is hands-down one of the absolute best in his field! His extensive knowledge of percussion, music theory, and music pedagogy only supplement his ability to take any student at any level and make them discover a level of potential and success higher than already imagined. He has a tremendous ability to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of any student he teaches, thus offering very thorough instruction. In short, Mr. Stricklin is a master in music performance, education, composition, and arranging! I highly recommend Hunter Stricklin. He will take your knowledge and abilities to the next level and beyond!
