I am a student at Ball State University, pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in piano performance under the guidance of Dr. Robert Palmer. As a teaching assistant throughout my graduate studies, I have worked as an accompanist and taught ear training, group piano, and private piano lessons. Prior to Ball State University, I studied at the University of Kentucky and Ohio State University where I earned Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in piano performance, respectively. To expand my expertise in music, I have attended summer music festivals and conferences including Adamant Music School and “Musical Summer at the Mill” International Masterclasses & Festival in Moulin d’Ande, France. Recently, I presented my lecture recital on the music of Jean-Philippe Rameau at College Music Society regional conferences in North Dakota, Montana, and New York. I was an recipient of the outstanding student presentation award at the CMS Great Lakes Regional Conference, 2014.

Hiromi is wonderful. This was my 13 year old son's first lesson on piano, and Hiromi tailor made the lesson to fit his level of experience. He was able to improv and experiment with the keyboard, and Hiromi guided him through perfectly, while then following up with structure. Thanks to Hiromi and a wonderful first lesson. :)

I have taken 5 piano lessons with her and enjoyed her teachings very much. She is punctual and very patient and warm and helped identify my problems quickly. I am confident that with her teaching, I will be able to improve my piano skills.

Great teacher! Uses established course textbooks to guide the classes, yet adds custom lessons tailored to your needs or focus. Hiromi makes sure to challenge you on your trouble spots by preparing custom focused instruction. Within my first set of 5 lesson my skills improved dramatically. Even without being able to speak fluently, I could understand the large majority of my business meetings in Japan. In less than 2 months I have been able to learn correct, day to day conversational speaking that covers a variety of subjects and life necessities. Highly recommended!
