My expertise is in jazz improvisation and doubling. I have played many broadway shows, jazz gigs, and provided tracks to movies and commercials.

I am a professional musician living in New York City. I have held chairs on Broadway shows such as South Pacific, The King and I, Sunset Blvd, and My Fair Lady. I have also subbed on many more such as Porgy and Bess, Cinderella, Anastasia. in 2017 I won the Low Reed chair audition for Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
I am a bassoonist that decided to start doubling so I came to Hideaki to teach me how to play clarinet, sax, and flute. I had never played a single reed instrument before or had even imagined playing the flute. Hideaki is one of the best teachers you will find. His knowledge of music and is style of playing is second to none. His patient and concise teaching style will take you to the next level in no time. Within a year I was subbing on broadway shows playing flute, sax, and clarinet. I highly recommend Hideaki as a teacher.

I studied with Hideaki for several years, starting off as a beginner clarinet student. He is an incredibly talented musician, who genuinely cares about your progress. Throughout my years of study with him, he had creative approaches to address any issues in my playing and worked patiently to figure out what was best for me. His guidance and expertise were key in developing my interest in music and decision to pursue clarinet through college. I highly recommend him as a teacher for players of all levels.

My coaching was really great and helpfull. The approach was simple, precise, and there was no stress. Hideaki is a talented clarinet player as well as an excellent teacher. He gave me many tricks that I can include in my day to day playing.
If I could, I won’t hesitate a minute to have another coaching with him.

Hideaki transformed my daughter's music experience. He not only taught her how to play the clarinet well he taught her how to understand and feel music. He is great teacher. He also invited us to his performances which were a lot of fun.

Hideaki is such a gem! He is not only a world-class musician but also a Juilliard grad educator (He has a DMA - Doctor of Musical Arts). He really knows how to teach and work with you. He is very patient, cares about your progress, and has a very strong passion for music. Unlike many teachers here, his style and skills are so versatile and top-notch. You will not be disappointed!

I've worked with Hideaki for a few years now, and he is a brilliant musician whose abilities span the gamut of music making happening today! Just look at his bio. He does everything - jazz, classical, pop - and he is good at all of it. He is a thoughtful person and a skilled, patient teacher, to top it off. I would absolutely recommend Hideaki as a teacher.
