Hello! I've loved music since I was young, and am very passionate about helping others learn and enjoy music. I started playing violin in elementary school, loved it, and now am a junior music education major at SUNY Fredonia with an instrumental (strings) concentration. I am a graduate of the Mannes School of Music Senior Preparatory Program, where I studied violin (including orchestra and chamber music), music theory, and ear training. I teach both violin and viola as well as music theory and ear training, and frequently perform on violin at my university and in the community. I've been volunteering with children ages infant - 12 in church's children's ministry, babysitting, and camp settings since I was in middle school, and began giving extra violin lessons to local, middle school violin students my first year of college. As service learning for my Music for Children with Disabilities class, I taught general music once a week to special education classes at a local BOCES school. I love seeing my student's reactions and progress - it's the best part of my week! Other exciting things I have done at college include my involvement in the National Association for Music Educators and the American String Teacher's Association. In May of 2020, I was elected president of my school's chapter of the American String Teacher's Association. In addition to music, I also am interested in math. I have a minor in applied mathematics at my university, and was a math tutor in middle school and high school. I can tutor math students from kindergarten through 12th grade, and am excited to work as a math teacher at the Memphis Teacher Residency Camp in summer 2021. I teach both in-person and online. During the academic year, when I am at college, you can meet me on campus. While I am on break from school, you can meet me at home. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to helping you and yours achieve your goals!

Helen is very patient and knowledgeable. She pays attention to details (which I love) because then I won't develop bad habits that I will have a hard time correcting later.
