Heidi believes that technique and mastery of the instrument will come once the student realizes they have the ability to do so. She teaches in a way that encourages the student's natural musical talent and models the discipline of practice skills. Heidi believes that learning a new skill can be challenging at times, but learning music should be fun.
She has taught kids as young as 3 yrs old and is also experienced and comfortable teaching adults. She is able to prepare for auditions, performances, or if the student is just looking to get a few tunes under their belt.

About Heidi Y.

Heidi Yoo is a violinist based in Peninsula, teaching violin throughout the bay area since 2006. She is currently teaching at a music studio in San Mateo as well as privately in the Palo Alto areas. She has also taught group classes in an after school setting for Elementary age children in San Francisco. Heidi is also an active performing musician and often performs with her chamber ensembles.

Heidi completed her BM in classical violin performance at San Francisco State University under her professor, Zakarias Grafilo, the first violinist of the Alexander String Quartet. Heidi also studied with Jassen Todorov, who is also a well-known soloist.

Heidi was born in Korea and started playing the violin at the age of three. She has won many competitions and received certificates from various festivals and showcases. As a member of a string quartet, she received a silver certificate from Kiwanis Fraser Valley International Music Festival. She also has been in professional orchestras for 7 years and performed numerous times. Because of her many ensemble experiences, Heidi is well versed in chamber music.
