I believe that there is so much more than just technique, to learning to play an instrument and create music. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to receive a rigorous classical string training from some of the most talented teachers in LA. And something I've learned is that in order to learn holistically and sustainably, we need to learn to love and honor our process of learning and to find out what works for us and what we need at any given moment or stage in our growth and development. When I teach I try to remember that during each lesson or practice session, we may need different things at each moment. I hope to use my sensitivity and empathy to stay attuned to all of my students and to foster an environment where we feel confident to listen to and speak up for our needs - emotionally, physically, and energetically. For instance, if we need to rest, let’s rest! If we feel tense or nervous, let’s take a minute to shake it out, stretch, breathe, dance or run around the room. If we feel discouraged, let’s take some time to focus on what we know we are great at and reflect on all that we’ve learned so far. If we feel stagnant or restless, let’s try something new. Whatever you need, I want you to feel safe to know that you matter and I honor you showing up as you are. Whoever you are, wherever you are, know that I care and that I am here to work with you to help you grow and learn in all the ways that you can and need. I look forward to meeting you soon!
