Discover the writer within: get customized guidance from a professor with 20+ years experience

Many of us struggle to write the first sentence of an assignment. Then we waste time attempting to achieve a certain word limit before a due date, quite often using filler words and repetition to do so. I am here to transform the way you approach writing, moving from a mundane experience to a meaningful one. In our sessions, we may explore some of the following themes: -How to build robust, well-supported paragraphs -How to craft a killer thesis statement -How to connect ideas logically (moving beyond empty words or phrases) -How to claim your audience's attention from the first sentence -How to find and integrate the best sources into your paper -How to vary vocabulary and sentence structure so that your voice shines through -How to clean up grammar errors Beyond guiding you through writing essays and paragraphs, I can assist you with a whole smorgasbord of communication needs (e.g., resumes, cover letters, articles, theses/dissertations, creative writing, books, grammar, ESL, email etiquette, business reports, dating profiles). Just let me know what your goals are.

    About Heather T.

Throughout the years, I have evolved as an educator from teaching diverse subjects and skills in varied settings. Serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Hungary was an excellent introduction to teaching reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar, listening, and speaking to beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of student. I learned how to reach students who had differing learning styles and how to employ various teaching methods to make language instruction a richer, more interactive experience for students. This understanding was deepened by the following stage of my career, in which I taught all levels of writing, ESL, reading, study skills, and literature to American students at community college and university settings, online and in person. Student success has always been paramount to me, so I have worked hard to meet students wherever they are in education. From understanding the various challenges that students face as middle and high school students, college students, migrant workers, single parents and adult learners, I have learned how to guide them toward a future with potential, equipping them with the necessary tools to be successful in the workplace and beyond. I look forward to supporting your journey!
