I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 25 years. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. I am a member of my church choir. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It is the best job ever.
*** Lesson Details ***
I use a variety of curriculum, which includes classical, broadway, some pop, new age, and jazz. After 3 to 6 months you will have a basic understanding of your instrument and will be ready to take off! I do ask students to keep track of your practicing so you can see your progress.
I use the Alfred Basic Books for beginners and then we move to the Keith Snell books along with other supplemental books. If a student already is using a book, generally we will finish that book up so they won't have to purchase another set of books.
For Saxophone and Clarinet:
I use the Rubank books along with other supplemental books
I use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias, The Young Singer, and various Broadway books. Any pop music must be purchased by student as there is just way too much to chose from for me to have a lot of it.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio: in living room with 2 pianos at entrance of house. Seating is available as well toys and a table for siblings.
*** Specialties ***
Voice - Classical & Broadway
Piano - classical
Clarinet - classical and pop
Saxophone - classical, pop, and some jazz
I teach all music lessons, plan concerts, take students to concerts. In 1999 and 2008, I took a group of students who became a choir to perform in Disney World at the Epcot Center.
I taught all music lessons, planned concerts, kept track of accounts. I also created all playbills for the concert. I took students to competition yearly.
I taught Dance and Voice classes. From Preschool to high school. We did musicals, musical reviews, as well as competition pieces for both dance and vocal music. We won many awards.
Michigan Music Association was founded in 1967 as a non-profit, educational organization to perpetuate through high standards an annual competition for students in the state of Michigan. Its goals are to provide the public the opportunity to hear students in competition, to uphold a high standard in music education, provide a public outlet for the artistic talent of music students, and most importantly to help students gain the experience and confidence to develop their musical talents.+ Read More

Heather is very nice, she sings very well and she is a very good music teacher!
Heather answered all my questions and did a good job adjusting the lessons to my level of playing piano
Same thing over and over
she is very nice and the songs she selected are classical. I will continue my classes with her.
My daughter likes her singing lessons with Heather.
She is an excellent teacher. She is very patient with my son.
Need to know a little bit more about how the singing process works without going into the students class time thank you
Heather is such a nice, professional and sweet teacher!
Thank you so much for your accommodation of my time issue!
Q and Panny are sooooo adorable and Q even sings along when we sing.
You should come check her out haha!
Heather is a marvelous teacher. She has a great personality that really puts you at ease. She shows great patience and always has an encouraging word about your progress. Lessons tend to go by so quickly because they are a lot of fun.
I highly recommend her.
Heather is a wonderful teacher. She has patience, kindness and puts me at ease when I play for her. She makes me laugh, too!
Heather is a great teacher
Heather is one of the most encouraging teachers I have come into contact with. My children love to practice because of her encouragement. She has the sweetest temperament and deals with her students with patience and kindness.
Love taking lessons with Heather!
Heather's teaching style is relaxed yet with the utmost professionalism. She has offered so many techniques to make an older gal like me learn easier. She communicates in such a way that I understand what I previously thought to be intimidating and difficult to a way that I understand. She is so patient with me, I know how long I am taking to learn even the most simple notes and reading music but she encourages me, she makes me feel confident that (even at my age) I can and will and am learning! I look forward to seeing her each week. I may also take voice lessons from her too soon!
I love my teacher!
Heather has helped me in so many ways, even in the short time I have had her as my teacher. She has helped me work on ''rejoice greatly'' with the timing and some of the fancy work that you have to do in that song with your voice. And also on mozart's ''Allelujah'' she has helped me to refine some of the technique work involved with your voice also. She is going to teach me to cite read music, because i cannot at this time read the notes on sheet music when they are all goofed up on the page of music.
She is a very good teacher
Heather has a very sweet temperament, she makes my shy daughter feel comfortable. We have only had 3 lessons and I have already seen so much improvement in her playing! I am very excited!
I think Heather is a good teacher.
