I have played clarinet from the time I was a child in 6th grade. I played in concert band as well as marching band. One of my best memories of playing in high school was when our band played in the Orange Bowl Parade.

I teach all levels of clarinet. I use several different books including the rubank books, and a few just for clarinet. I also have many solo fun and classical books for students to use.

About Heather P.

I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 33 years! I am also experienced in teaching students with special needs. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It is the best job ever. Please note that we have three dogs. Two are not in the lesson room and one sometimes is and she is small. She lays under the piano bench.

*** Lesson Details ***
I use a variety of curriculum, which includes classical, broadway, some pop, new age, and jazz. After 3 to 6 months you will have a basic understanding of your instrument and will be ready to take off! I do ask students to keep track of your practicing so you can see your progress.

For piano:
I use the Alfred Basic Books for beginners and then we move to the Keith Snell books along with other supplemental books. If a student already is using a book, generally we will finish that book up so they won't have to purchase another set of books.

For Saxophone and Clarinet:
I use the Rubank books along with other supplemental books

For Voice:
I use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias, The Young Singer, and various Broadway books. Any pop music must be purchased by student as there is just way too much to chose from for me to have a lot of it.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio: in living room with 2 pianos at entrance of house. Seating is available as well toys and a table for siblings.

*** Specialties ***
Voice - Classical & Broadway
Piano - classical
Clarinet - classical and pop
Saxophone - classical, pop, and some jazz

I am so thankful to have Heather as my vocal teacher. She knows exactly what her students need to reach their maximum potential and she helps them to build a strong and solid foundation. Heather is not only an outstanding teacher, amazingly gifted vocalist, and a beautiful woman, she is also very encouraging, motivating, fun and caring. I absolutely love her. She is an answer to prayer, a blessing beyond words!!

Heather is a great teacher

Heather is one of the most encouraging teachers I have come into contact with. My children love to practice because of her encouragement. She has the sweetest temperament and deals with her students with patience and kindness.

Love taking lessons with Heather!

Heather's teaching style is relaxed yet with the utmost professionalism. She has offered so many techniques to make an older gal like me learn easier. She communicates in such a way that I understand what I previously thought to be intimidating and difficult to a way that I understand. She is so patient with me, I know how long I am taking to learn even the most simple notes and reading music but she encourages me, she makes me feel confident that (even at my age) I can and will and am learning! I look forward to seeing her each week. I may also take voice lessons from her too soon!

I love my teacher!

Heather has helped me in so many ways, even in the short time I have had her as my teacher. She has helped me work on ''rejoice greatly'' with the timing and some of the fancy work that you have to do in that song with your voice. And also on mozart's ''Allelujah'' she has helped me to refine some of the technique work involved with your voice also. She is going to teach me to cite read music, because i cannot at this time read the notes on sheet music when they are all goofed up on the page of music.

Heather has a very sweet temperament, she makes my shy daughter feel comfortable. We have only had 3 lessons and I have already seen so much improvement in her playing! I am very excited!
