Hello, my name is Healani and I am very excited to have this opportunity to teach! Whether in the dance studio or the academic classroom, teaching is not only a job for me, but a passion of mine as well.
As a recent 4.0 graduate from Drexel University, I can provide tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects, from the elementary school to undergraduate level. I can also help with essay writing and reference citing, as I am well-versed in MLA and APA citations.
In addition to academic services, I can also provide those relating to the arts. After having danced professionally with a ballet company, I have been teaching many different styles of dance to students of all ages for the past ten years.
Because of my history teaching dance, and the various child psychology and sociology courses I have taken, I would say that I am quite good with children. I also worked for five years as an assistant instructor at a Montessori preschool. So, whether related to dance or academics, I feel very comfortable working with students of any age.
As the director of the Pre-K and Kinder-Dance Program at TLC, I teach ballet/tap combo classes (ages 2.5-4 and 5-6) as well as jazz/acro combo classes (ages 2.5-6). I also teach Ballet 1 (ages 6-8), Ballet 2 (ages 9-13), and Advanced Pointe (ages 14-19).
Here I taught primarily taught ballet (ages 6-18), pointe (ages 12-18), and creative movement (ages 3-5) but also dabbled in jazz (ages 6-18).
Here, I taught at the school's summer intensives and was a frequent substitute teacher year-round for ballet and pointe (ages 9-18).
In addition to teaching ballet (ages 6-adult), pointe (ages 14-adult), and ballet barre fitness (ages 16-adult), I also performed in and choreographed works for the company that was attached to the school.
For five years I worked as an assistant instructor at a Montessori Preschool.
At this dance school, I taught tap (ages 3-4), ballet (ages 3-18), pointe (ages 11-18), and contemporary (ages 14-18).
For four years I taught at ACBT, the official school of the Atlantic City Ballet. I taught ballet (ages 3-adult), pointe (ages 11-19), jazz (ages 11-13), and ethnic (ages 11-19).
