    About Harrison H.

I am a trained classical singer that has graduated from Westminster Choir College, where I received a Master of Music with Distinction in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance, and Oberlin Conservatory, where I received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. I have been teaching voice and music for four years, both privately and elsewhere. I have experience teaching middle schoolers, high schoolers, and undergraduates- and I am comfortable teaching all age groups! My studies at graduate school involved historical vocal literature and contemporary voice science. In my teaching I like to simplify existing methods, so they are easy and fun to digest!

    Experience

    Tenor Scholar

    Feb, 2015 - May, 2018

    Christ Church, Oberlin

Led the tenor section of the choir. I would work Thursdays and Sundays, rehearsing and performing new repertoire every week and this position would often require solo performances. I was expected to lead the section, which would involve learning the music prior to the rehearsal and leading the other singers, many who were not comfortable with learning music.

    Graduate Assistnat in Opera Theatre

    Jun, 2019 - May, 2020

    Westminster Choir College

Assisted in the administrative side of two Operatic Productions. This involved tracking attendance, corresponding with faculty, tracking inventory of the costume/prop shop, creating forms and documents, proctoring auditions, reserving spaces, etcetera.

    Graduate Assistant in Music Theory

    Sep, 2018 - May, 2019

    Westminster Choir College

Assisted in teaching Music Theory classes to Undergraduate Students. This involved grading papers on contemporary music theory, tutoring students on music theory, assisting the professor in quizzing students sight singing, etcetera.

    Assistant Director

    Jun, 2018 - Jul, 2018

    Toledo Opera Summer Program

Taught High School and Middle School age children during a two week summer program. I was required to stage, direct, coach, and give the children voice lessons. In the end they put on a forty-five minute production of “Pirates of Penzance.”

    Secondary Voice Teacher

    Feb, 2018 - May, 2018

    Oberlin College

Taught secondary voice lessons to non-majors at the school. I taught four students, giving each a private thirty minute lesson on a weekly basis. In this position I picked repertoire for the students and crafted vocalises to best suit their individual voices and progress.
