    About Hannah H.

My name is Hannah Harris. I am a mezzo soprano, who attends Florida Atlantic University. I have been singing for about 13 years. I am working towards a degree in Music Education. I am in the voice studio of Dr. Stacie Rossow, whom is Associate Director of Choral Studies and conducts FAU's Women's Chorale. I am a member of FAU's Latin American Choral Ensemble "Cantemos" and Chamber Choral Ensemble "Chamber Singers". This past Spring 2018 semester I had the privilege to participate in some incredible opportunities. I performed Handel's Dixit Dominus and Vivaldi's Gloria with the Delray Beach Chorale and FAU Chamber Singers. We also performed in Amadeus LIVE at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach and the Arscht Center in Miami. As far as solo work goes, I have performed at the Bonnet House as a part of a collaborative recital. I also have performed in the Georgina Dieter Dennis Foundation Scholarship recital at FAU, as a thank you to the foundation for the invaluable gift of our futures they present us with. Prior to attending FAU, I attended Lincoln Park Academy under the direction of Mr. George Rahming. At LPA I was in all the choral ensembles: Women's Chorale, Concert Chorale, and Rhapsody. Under his direction we achieved straight superiors every single year I was involved, and the choir continues to achieve this today. My junior year of high school I was made Student Conductor, where I gained invaluable experience teaching in an ensemble setting, and continued to fulfill this role until I graduated in 2017. During my time at LPA we performed at Disney every year at EPCOT for the "Candlelight Processional" with speakers ranging from Anthony Mackie to Edward James Olmos. We also performed in Atlanta, New York, Orlando, and Washington D.C. for competition, and each year we were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. In the future I plan to obtain my Master's in Ethnomusicology: the study of how culture and music intertwine. I plan to do this in order to provide my future students with a more well rounded music education, and help bring awareness to World Music's rightful place in a classical setting. I am gradually working on building my own music library regarding World Music in order to prepare for this down the road, once I have the resources in order to do so.
