The best way to learn the guitar is by learning the songs you love. As a beginner, we will start by learning the foundation to guitar playing such as hand placement and finger picking techniques. We will quickly jump into playing simple chords and scales, and learning the theory behind them. We will work through some introductory guitar song books, and before you know it, we will be playing your favorite classical songs.

Hello! My name is Halec and I've been playing electric and classical guitar for over 14 years. I began teaching 7 years ago with different students of various ages. I love teaching every genre of music from djent and classic rock all the way to modern pop and rap. I take pride in creating an environment that emphasizes comfort and positive learning strategies. For parents of the next generation of rockers, I have over 6 years of experience working with children (6-14 years old) in settings such as camp, before and after school programs, and tutoring facilities. I am a fluent Russian speaker and am highly familiar with classical and traditional Russian music. Please feel free to send me any questions you may have!

Learning from Halec has been fabulous every week! His lessons are a great balance between technique and fun, scales and songs -- and his method of building on skills and setting reasonable, but challenging goals really motivates me to practice after class! Overall, a deeply attentive and encouraging teacher!
