I am a Ventura based guitar instructor who specializes in playing a variety of musical styles. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, to a family of musicians, where I had the opportunity to study and perform with some of Philly's finest. Arriving in L.A. at 19, I was fortunate to study with MOJAZZ star Norman Brown and the late blues great Albert Collins. I hold a degree from the renowned GIT, as well as graduating with honors from UCLA in Ethnomusicology (world music). My talents have landed me scores of gigs working with famous musicians from as diverse cultures as Pakistan to Isreal, and Latin America to Europe. I have also toured &/or recorded with numerous pop/rock bands such as "Gene loves Jezebel" and indie fave "Tee-m & the Noizemakers." My guitar sounds have also appeared in TV shows and radio in Canada and Europe. I have also had the opportunity to work with Debbie Allen and Arturo Sandoval in their production of "Soul Pos-
sessed", and perform with the legendary "Miss Patti LaBelle" live at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. for the President and Vice-President of the U.S.A.
Well retired from the performing world, I now focus my passion to share my knowledge, experience, and talents with others.
*** Lesson Details ***
I am very flexible with learning and adapting to the students needs, goals, and desired approach. I can be as strict or laid back as needed or wanted. I do take a very methodical approach to establishing core fundamentals, such as the incorporation of vital finger exercises and the learning of (at least) basic music theory. I have never believed in the concept of "Natural Talent" or "Tone Deafness". Depending on the individual student's passion, dedication, & practice, within 3 to 6 months I am confident (and have a good track record) that I can get any student to a point of self-confidence that with future training and development they can eventually achieve greatness.
