    About Greg K.

    ​A diverse musician, Portland based guitarist and composer Greg K. has performed in a wide variety of venues, from the Crystal Ballroom to the Roseland Theater in Portland. Mr. K. was a founding member of the rock group On A Llama, which released two critically, acclaimed CD’s and performed throughout Portland and the Northwest from 1995-2000. Other performances include appearing at the North by Northwest music festival in Portland three consecutive years, performing at The Bite of Portland several years, performing on the television show Good Day Oregon and performing for the Department of Defense overseas shows in Germany, Belgium, Canada, Iceland, Greenland, Japan, and Korea. In addition Greg was a member of the Portland rock group Here Comes Everybody from 1986-1989. Here Comes Everybody performed throughout Portland including performing at The Mayors Ball and at The Bite of Portland. Greg appeared as a guest artist on three record releases from Here Comes Everybody. ​In recent years Mr. K. has written the musical scores for the independent short films, “The Ghost of the Red Rose” and “Hazmat Ghost”. In 1992 Greg wrote an original score for the Portland State University dance company for the performance of “Ever Changing Circumstances.”a Mr. K. has also created music and sound effects for several lines of toys for Hong Kong- based toy manufacturer Sunco Limited. In 2000 Greg began writing electronic music for a new ensemble called Godspell. Greg K.’s music and Godspell music is currently available at Reverbnation.com. ​Greg has earned a BA in music from Marylhurst University in Portland. Greg has also earned a Masters in teaching degree form George Fox University. He has studied guitar privately with Scott Kritzer and John Stowell and composition with John Paul and Anne Cecile D’Aigle. Greg is currently a music teacher with Portland Public Schools. *** Lesson Details *** I have a laid back approach to teaching guitar where students learn the fundamentals and theory behind what they are playing. Student can expect to be playing quickly the music they like. I supplement my lessons with Mel Bay guitar method books. After 3-6 months students will have the chops to play basic songs, learn scales and apply them to basic soloing. *** Specialties *** Rock, Blues, Country and Classical styles
