I am a professional opera singer, and while that's my "job title," don't let it fool you. I have also spent a number of years touring with jazz, blues, and rock and roll bands as a pianist and guitarist, so my style comes from everywhere. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Piano Performance from Hope College in Holland, MI, and my Master's in Vocal Performance comes from The Ohio State University. I am a professionally managed singer, and have worked on a number of international operatic stages as a baritone. I have been on faculty at NYU-Tisch School of the Arts, and the New School for the Performing Arts in New York City, as well as Hope College and Illinois Wesleyan University. I have also worked in Musical Theater as a music director/conductor as well as a performer.

*** Lesson Details ***
I expect from my students what I expect from myself. If they do not improve every lesson, then I am not doing my job. Music is the great joy of my life, and with that in mind, I take it pretty seriously. However, I also understand that younger students may not have the same goals, and I always take that into account when dealing with high school age and younger. Most of all, making music should be fun, and bring joy to the ones making it, and I try to make this point every time someone opens their mouth to sing or puts their fingers to an instrument. My curriculum is different for every student, depending on their needs, level of ability, etc. but all can expect to learn the same fundamentals of technique for their respective instrument.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a piano in my home studio for Voice Lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the students to provide a piano or keyboard for piano and voice lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I am a professional opera singer, and an accomplished jazz/musical theater singer and teacher. I teach classical and jazz piano styles, and all genres of guitar.

Perfect Beginning Instructor

Greg does a fantastic job teaching our 7yr old piano. He is patient, kind, and upbeat. We also love it when he sings during the lesson! We're very lucky to have found him.
