The trombone is a powerful and expressive instrument. My students will learn how to unlock their full potential in any style - jazz, classical, funk, rock, R&B, you name it - at any skill level and any age.

Lessons are tailored to the student's interests and musical tastes. I cover topics such as sound production, facility and range, music theory and ear training, improvisation in the jazz idiom, and composition/arranging.

Teaching since:

Music was a huge part of my upbringing. I had so many great teachers along the way, and I want to inspire young people to achieve their musical goals just like my teachers inspired me.

I'm a jazz trombonist from Charlotte, NC currently living in Washington Heights. After getting my B.M. in Trombone Performance from Appalachian State University, I moved to New York City to further my studies in the Master's Program at Manhattan School of Music. In 2016, I was the winner of the jazz portion of the Texas State Trombone Competition. I'm an active freelancer in the NYC jazz scene while I finish my studies.

Above all, I want to help cultivate a love of music in my students. The study of music teaches values that are not just relevant to performing, but to all of life: self-discipline, patience, humility, and the ability to listen to others. I truly believe becoming a musician makes you a better person, and I want to help as many people as possible to follow that path.

I messaged Grant online and asked him some questions regarding what direction I should go next in order to further my trombone playing. The information that he was able to offer gave me a clear direction on what I should include in my practice sessions, and he was able to offer some advice on individuals I should seek out to learn from in North Carolina.
