Learning is a direction, not a destination.
Simply put, my passion is to help people, young and old, move in the right direction of learning, growth and change. No matter if I'm talking about comma splices or the Women's Suffrage Movement, I will challenge my students to step out of their comfort zones or to think about something in a new way. I will push students to learn how to learn.
Having grown up in the US in an immigrant family, I have had the benefits of two worlds, languages and cultures. I empathize and understand what many students, especially international students, are struggling with. I get it and can work with students at any starting point.
Language is like music. It has a rhythm, a sound, a structure and feelings. Working with me means thinking about language in new ways that will ignite your interest. When you're interested and curious, you will learn more effectively!
I prefer to see the student-teacher relationship as a partnership. Every student I work with is a bit different than the rest, so I adjust my instructional methods. As a student, it's important that you communicate what you understand or don't understand. As your coach/tutor/teacher, it is my job to offer solutions and guidance.
In the end, it is my love for people that motivates me to teach. I'm looking forward to partnering with you!
