I know every student is different, and I try my best to reflect that in my teaching. However, all students can expect to learn and refine their vocal fundamentals. A good technical foundation is absolutely necessary not only to sound your best, but also to preserve your vocal health. I also believe that vocal technique works best in service to strong artistry - so expect plenty of acting work as well! I want to work with students to help them find repertoire that not only balances vocal development level with challenge, but also excites them! While I love the 24 Italian Songs & Arias, there is such a huge world of music out there just waiting to be discovered. What are your interests? How can we find music that aligns with them? How can our work together reverberate out into your daily life outside of music? I'm also happy to help prepare students in applying for undergraduate university/conservatory/precollege programs - this not only includes repertoire selection & preparation, but also help with resumes, personal statements, and program research. As a professional coloratura soprano, and I've performed both stateside and in Europe. Here in Nashville I've performed multiple roles with the Vanderbilt Opera Theatre and Off-Broadway companies, including Mary Crawford in Johnathon Dove's 'Mansfield Park', Fiordiligi from Mozarts 'Cosí fan tutte', and The Stepmother in Sondheim's 'Into the Woods'. Abroad, I've performed in Donizetti's 'Lucia di Lammermoor', Puccini's 'Tosca' and 'Suor Angelica', and Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro'. I have two major roles upcoming - Lady Billows in Britten's 'Albert Herring' with Vanderbilt Opera Theatre, and Clorinda in Rossini's 'La Cenerentola' with Festival of International Opera Italia. In my spare time, I am a textile artist specializing in embroidery and bobbin lace, and I have a special interest in historical dress and costume. I love Criminal Minds, doing nonograms, and my (very needy) cat, Sokka.
