I have been tutoring trumpet for nine years. My tutoring approach is first to determine the student's purpose, goals, and objectives and then determine his/her current performance level. Next, we begin instruction to take the student to the next level and beyond. I offer trumpet news and tips on my blog. I have a B.A. degree in English Literature with a minor in music, from the University of Washington. While an undergraduate student at U.W., I was a scholarship student in the Husky Band; marched at football games, the Tournament of Roses Parade, and the Rose Bowl game; played in pep band at basketball games; and played in a brass ensemble. Also, I played in orchestras for musicals and opera. In high school, I was a member of the Texas All-State Band. I now specialize in private lessons for trumpet and cornet. Also, in October 2018, I began my eighth year of teaching brass instruments for the elementary band at Skyview Middle School in Bothell. In spring 2014, I taught trumpet sectionals in the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore. I'm a member of the U.W. Husky Alumni Band, as well as being Bugler for the VFW Post 1040 Honor Guard, playing at numerous military funerals and ceremonies. Finally, I play in a church orchestra. Please find my blog online. ***Geographic Coverage*** We can meet at your home (no travel charge, unless far from Interstate Highway corridors) or at Ted Brown Music in the University District, Seattle (small fee for studio rental). I cover homes from about I-90 northward on the Seattle and Bellevue sides and in Southwest Snohomish County. When I tutor youths in a residence, an adult must be present. When students live in more distant locations, we can meet at Ted Brown Music. *** Travel Equipment *** I bring my own mouthpiece (and horn, occasionally), lesson books, and CD's to your home. Students have their own horn, music stand, school music and music lesson books and CD's, if any. *** Specialties *** Marching band, concert band, brass ensemble, pep band, jazz band, orchestra.

Glenn knows just how to help my daughter with trumpet techniques he teaches her at every lesson. She has improved immensely under Glenn's watchful and intuitive teaching style. Glenn is always on time and always upbeat and friendly. I'd recommend him to anyone wanting to improve their trumpet playing!

After orientation class and a background check in 2010, I was certified to teach as a para-professional in the Northshore School District, which includes Bothell, Kenmore, and Woodinville, WA. That September, I began teaching Beginning Brass (5th and 6th graders) as an assistant to the Instrumental Music Director, Mr. Shawn McGinn, at Skyview Jr. High School in Bothell. Eventually, he also called upon me as Guest Conductor at certain band concerts. In 2015, Mr. Charlie Fix replaced Mr. McGinn and retained me to continue teaching Beginning Brass.
