I've been teaching vocal lessons, musical theatre courses, and audition prep for over 20 years. It's my job to enjoy the music, inspire, cheerlead, and provide a plethora of helpful tools for my singers to use as they learn and develop as performers. So, whether my singers are taking on a new style of singing, preparing for an audition, a role, a concert, or looking for ways to survive long rehearsals or speaking gigs; we work together to achieve their goals. Each lessons begins with my singer's challenges and goals for upcoming performances. Together we assess how we can work together to make the largest impact in the time we have. A few common examples that clients bring to me include: • Finding an authentic and naturally free sound • Applying a specific technique to a new piece (ei: belt, speech quality, classical tone) • Creating a dynamic character and communicating clearly in song • Releasing tension in a specific range of the voice or passage in a piece • Gaining confidence • Reigniting the joy in singing • Breathing - to provide more dependable support • Exploring techniques to survive long rehearsals • Practicing strategies to combat inconsistent vocal health • Relieving stress by doing something they love There is no formula to how a coaching session should look, because I tailor each coaching session to your goals and needs. I will help you overcome your challenges while we capitalize your strengths. I define a successful coaching session by our partnering together in achieving your aspirations, finding joy in music, and your leaving each session with at least one valuable nugget that gives you a sense of accomplishment while assisting you in the following days and weeks.
