    About Giancarlo D.

I started with a very strong technical background as a Computer Science undergraduate at CMU and have moved entirely into the role of teacher/tutor/mentor. I have a very wide array of teaching and tutoring experience, especially in Math and Science, and have had success with virtually every student. My approach is very personable: I pride myself in getting to know my students' learning preferences and tailoring my style to suit them. I'm very patient and always looking to make tutoring fun as well as productive.

    Experience

    Teacher

    Nov, 2010 - Present

    Pittsburgh Prep

I have worked for several years at Pittsburgh Prep - a tutoring and test prep company located in East Pittsburgh. I have taught SAT and ACT prep in groups and with individuals and have also worked with students in all levels of high school math and science. Most importantly, I have really developed my teaching skills through training and working here.

    University School

I worked for a couple of summers at the University School in Shadyside, a small preparatory school. I taught small classes (3-5 students) in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Trigonometry, and Algebra.

    Freelance

I have worked as a tutor for high school and college students since as far back as my own college experience, where I was a teaching assistant for several of my Computer Science classes. I love working with students individually, and my students have always found me to be incredibly helpful.
