Unlike many instructors who simply use the same cookie-cutter method in their teaching, I believe in adapting to each individual student for consistent progress. By meeting them "where they are," focusing on their learning style, and developing a systematic approach to fixing bad habits and eliminating weaknesses in their playing, every single one of my students achieves musical growth, command of the instrument, and an overarching love of music.

My two decades of professional experience both as performer and instructor allows me to draw on multiple methods, exercises, and repertoire that will help you develop your full potential while always enjoying your musical journey.

About Geronimo O.

Music has been a passion of mine since I can remember, both as a performer and as a pedagogue. I have experienced firsthand the transformative, healing, and communicative power of music, so my ultimate goal is to share my expertise through teaching and performing.

I am a classically-trained violinist with 20 years of experience as a professional orchestral and chamber player. I hold several degrees in performance, including a DMA (University of Oklahoma), MM (NC School of the Arts), an Artist's Diploma, and a BA (both from the College of Charleston). I am also a Suzuki-certified instructor in violin and viola, fluent in English, Spanish, and French, and have taught students of all ages and levels in a variety of settings (public schools, private music academies, pre-college, university, etc.), in person and remotely (via Zoom), both one-on-one and in groups. My teaching experience also includes music appreciation, string pedagogy, film music, and music history courses.

My students always achieve personal satisfaction and musical growth, regardless of age, level, and degree of commitment. Many of them have been accepted into colleges and universities with scholarships, won competitions, and placed in leadership positions for their school, state, and regional orchestras.

I have been fortunate enough to work with some truly great violinists and pedagogues, either long term or in numerous music festivals, who to this day continue to inspire my own teaching. My musical career has taken me all over the world, including performances in Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, Austria, and Japan. As a big fan of film, animation, TV, and videogame music I also arrange popular selections for strings.

I took lessons from Geronimo for a few years and I really developed a lot under his teaching. He is very good at pinpointing issues and also fixing bad habits. He also helped me to become better at practicing, which is extremely helpful. Overall a great teacher and would highly recommend.

My daughter took lessons with Geronimo for two years while he was pursuing his PhD at the University of Oklahoma. Geronimo is a great instructor. He is very clear, concise, and effective in communicating with kids during the lesson. It's very easy to follow and understand him even for younger kids. He uses every minute of each lesson in teaching, and truly cares about educating kids on musics. Geronimo emphasizes skills and techniques, which offered my daughter a solid foundation to move up (she has been attending Oklahoma Youth Orchestra for one year). Thank you, Geronimo for being a great instructor!

Geronimo was a great instructor and motivator! He helped me find the right sound and worked with my strong suits as well as helping me strengthen my weaknesses. I would recommend him to any player as he showed me ways to become more confident and enhance my playing.

Geronimo is an excellent teacher. He taught my son, viola who was a beginner using the Suzuki method. He is very thorough with finger movements and bow work. He sets clear milestones for the student to meet for each week along with semester goals, such as recitals and concerts. His artistry is highly advanced yet we really liked how he could teach kids at all ranges. My son has had about 3 teachers, but Geronimo stands out as the best. I highly recommend him. Thank you.
