Advanced Tai Chi Chuan and Meditation

    Improve your upper and lower body flexibility with basic Tai Chi and Qigong movements.

    Reduce your stress and muscle tightness by learning the gentle stretching positions of Tai Chi and Qigong. Learn to discern the relaxation achieved through Tai Chi basic positions, such as Pat the Horse, Twist Step, Cloud Hands and Circle the Moon. Learn how to step so that your calves pump blood back to your heart. Turning the torso also strengthens your core and relaxes the back.     Start learning the traditional Yang Style 24 pose short form right away. In your first lesson, you'll learn basic stances and breathing techniques as well as White Crane Awakens and Pat the High Horse, Your balance, strength and mental focus will improve with each lesson. Online lessons require a laptop, PC or notebook with a webcam. Lessons are one on one through interactive audio and video. You may ask questions at any time during instruction. Lessons are tailored to fit your level of proficiency. Beginners are more than welcome.     Beginning students learn the 24 movement short form through classical Chinese animal imagery, such as the horse, monkey, snake, dragon, tiger and crane. Students learn three basic warm up exercises including the Chinese drum, Salute to the Sun and Pat the Horse. Continuing students learn Return Tiger to Mountain, Rooster Stands on One Leg, Repulse Monkey, Slanted Flying and More. Emphasis is on balance, mental focus, renewed energy and improving overall flexibility.

    I taught White Crane, Black Tiger and Red Dragon Sets of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan to students of all ages. Classes begin with stretching and stepping exercises, leading up to full sets depending on the proficiency of the class. Individual attention is given to each student as they progress through the difficulty of each set. Mindfulness and mind-body connection are emphasized, as well as progressive relaxation. All students are given ample opportunities to ask questions during or after class.

Emphasis was placed on strength, mental focus and balance to help prevent tripping and falling. Students learn to move the chi energy throughout their bodies from the soles of their feet to the top of their heads and to release energy from their fingertips.
