About Geoffrey W.
I have several years of teaching experience, ranging from tutoring in middle school math, science and reading, teaching lessons in trombone, baritone, guitar, and bass guitar, substitute teaching in music, ESL and as a classroom aide, and teaching ESL both abroad in China and South Korea at K-12 levels and here in the United States at the collegiate level. I have Bachelor of Musical Arts degree in composition and theory from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from Temple University.
My lessons and teaching focus very heavily on finding out the best way each student can learn and catering how I present material and concepts to fit the student's style of learning. Because I have studied a variety of subjects and am constantly involved in culture and learning, I have a very anecdotal way of presenting things. Usually I try to teach by focusing on concepts and by presenting analogies to these concepts I've found has been very helpful. I am also a deep learner and really enjoy working with advanced students who want to spend a good amount of time engaged with a subject.
In short, I'm very student-focused and really enjoy teaching.
