Hi, I am a piano and ear training teacher in orange county, CA. I earned a Bachelor's degree in musicology from the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM, 中央音乐学院), and a Master's degree in ethnomusicology from the SOAS, University of London. Since 2017, after I graduated, I have taught 30+ piano students, 20+ solfege students of various ages and levels as a full-time piano teacher. I was also a certified teacher of Elementary Knowledge of Music(contents including sight-singing, ear-training, music theory, and basic music culture), one of the most authoritative music grade exams in China. Ninety percent of students who have been instructed by me have passed this exam. Moreover, they were all having a lot of fun in the classes! I started to learn the piano at 7 years old and followed top teachers in piano performance and musicology in both China and the UK. I have rich knowledge of music owing to my educational background since young. I was comprehensively and professionally trained in music, such as piano performance, music analysis in both western music and Chinese music, high-level sight-singing and ear training, music composition theories (harmony, musical form, polyphony, and orchestration), western and Chinese music history, music criticism and music aesthetics. In teaching, I have benefited from the knowledge acquired and I am good at teaching students: to analyze musical structures; to use different emotions and techniques to play based on different historical and cultural backgrounds possessed by music works; to deal with all detailed contents in songs, such as tones, symbols, phrases, melodies, rhythms, harmony, voices. I firmly believe that all kids have the potential to enjoy playing the piano. All ages and levels are welcome. Let me help you to become a better musician!
