Classical Piano with Genevieve R.

I teach elementary music and like to make learning fun! I have been teaching piano for seven years and has been playing the piano for twenty. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California with piano as my primary instrument. I have experience with the Suzuki method and is currently working toward a Masters degree in Kodály Music Education. I teach elementary music and band in the Belton School District. I believe there is no single correct way to teach a student and utilize multiple techniques to provide the best musical experience for my students. I am new to the area and have previously taught beginning piano students in Valdez, Alaska, Stockton, California, and Lodi, California. I have used the Bastien Piano series and the Alfred Piano series in the past, but am open to other piano method books if your student is already using one they enjoy. I specialize in classical piano, but do also have some experience with jazz. Playing an instrument should be an exciting and motivating experience for a child and I would love to be a part of that journey! I am willing to come to your home for lessons. This is an advantage as you do not need to travel, your student’s lessons will be on the same piano that he/she practices on, and you are present for the lesson, allowing you to be part of the learning experience and better encourage your student to practice throughout the week. I generally recommends 30 minute lessons once a week for new students.
