Hello, my name is Gary R. and I am a life long music instructor. . I teach online and in person. After 40 years of being in the music industry, I am now semi retired. This means that I don't carry a full load of students anymore and can zero in on Your specific needs. Young and old are welcome! I teach brass instruments with TRUMPET being my primary instrument to perform on. I also teach beginner piano to intermediate. For trumpet-My lessons will focus on proper breathing techniques, embouchure formation, scales and related drills to gain dexterity and speed, and of course, songs that you would like to learn. I use a variety of method books depending on the students needs. Each lesson plan is personalized. (I haver a masters degree in Music Education from UNT) I also teach jazz trumpet, which means-learning tunes, styles, sight reading jazz rhythyms, and how to improvise. For piano lessons, I use piano method books as well as personalized work sheets as needed. We learn 2 hand playing, sight reading, and "standard literature" to start. I only teach piano in person. Above all, it is my hope that you will have fun while studying with me-because, after all-that is why we call it "playing".
