Songwriting with Gail G.

I am a composer, singer-songwriter and teacher based in Chicago. I have worked as a music director in the Chicago improv scene for 10 years now and that sense of improv is something I bring into my lessons. I have experience working with students of all ages and abilities. For three years I worked at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. I had several piano students of various abilities and disabilities and there I learned how to make adjustments as necessary and find different ways to communicate the particular techniques I wanted to teach. I love to create a spirit of curiosity in my lessons. I encourage my students to ask questions and challenge them to find what lights them up about music. I very much enjoy tailoring my lessons to my students. If you are beginning we will of course work thru the basics but then as you progress if you have interest in a particular song or style we can work toward that goal. I also specialize in songwriting and improvisation so if you're interested in learning to write your own songs that's my speciality.
