Gabriel has managed to become involved in several sectors of the San Diego music scene. He has performed and/or recorded with Swami John Reis and The Blind Shake, Greyboy Allstars (featuring Fred Wesley), The Styletones, Busride, Bunky, Creedle, The San Diego State Jazz Orchestra, Pocket, Castanets, Tristeza, Gogogo Airheart, Lady Dottie and The Diamonds, and several others. In addition to the numerous rock, funk, latin, and experimental outfits, Gabriel has also performed with some of San Diego's finest jazz musicians as well as such ensembles as The San Diego Symphony Orchestra and The L.A. based music ensemble, The Industrial Jazz Group. As a composer he has written music for the following bands; The Applebrown Jazz Ensemble, Nexus, Nexus 4000, Busride, Followers, The San Diego Music Awards (The Band), and Mutantspaceboy. Additionally, he has composed for San Diego State University's student jazz ensembles, has arranged music for Hoover High School's Jazz Club, and has compiled an eclectic and extensive collection of original music.

San Diego State Research Foundation (Hoover High)

I served as the jazz band director at Herbert Hoover High School's after school program. In collaboration with the band director, I was responsible for the preparation and presentation of music repertoire and study materials for the jazz band. I conducted lectures and rehearsals, and provided assistance in the direction of student performances and outreach programs. The primary focus of the class was learning fundamental principles in playing jazz and the basic concepts of jazz improvisation.
