Organic Chemistry with Frank C.

As a one-on-one tutor in the academic success and tutoring center, I have learned to set goals, provide outside resources that can help students outside the tutoring session, and to give students personalized study strategies. During this time I have earned the College and Reading Learning Association’s Advanced Tutor, Level 2 International Tutor Training Program Certification. As an organic chemistry 1 and 2 teaching assistant at stony brook university, I worked with many different students. Through this experience, I learned to teach organic chemistry concepts from many different perspectives. I have also worked in an organic chemistry research lab for a year and a half and was fortunate enough to be a part of 3 published papers. Lastly, I was also an organic chemistry laboratory instructor for one semester where I help teach students various organic chemistry laboratory techniques.  I am passionate about teaching students and love seeing that "aha" moment on students' faces when they finally understand a concept. I provide a welcoming environment for students where mistakes are completely accepted. I strongly believe that success can come from many failed attempts and as long as you keep trying and trust yourself that you can come to understand difficult concepts and you will be successful.
