Dear Parents & Students, I want you to know a little about me. My name is Francesca and I am originally from Sicily. I began taking piano lessons under the tutelage of Ms. Marika Torchio in Sicily at the of 8 years old. From her I learned the proper piano technique that is still part of my teaching repertoire. I came here to New York at the age of 15 and continued my studies with Maestro Terence Cage, who is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music. Under his tutelage, I was able to win a scholarship to a SUNY college. I have had many opportunities to perform at different venues such as weddings, chamber music, accompaniments for vocalists and church events. Although my educational background is in criminal justice, I never stopped my musical education either. in 2006, I attended SUNY Suffolk Community College in Selden NY majoring in criminal justice while minoring in music performance. During the summer months, I took music classes at SUNY Stony Brook. Finally, I enrolled at Long Island University C W Post to graduate in criminal justice. Despite my success in the court system I always found myself lead back to music. I continued my private studies with a retired Juilliad professor and continued performing, but it was in 2014 that my life turned for the better. On one day in 2014 while tuning my piano, my piano tuner told me that I should teach and he gave me the name of his friend who was in need of a piano teacher. And it is then that God opened the flood waters of blessings. I have been blessed with the talents of many students and joy of passing on the art of piano playing, the knowledge of masters of centuries past. To continue your progress in the art of piano playing I am going to attach a list of books that I use for the proper development of finger articulation and piano technique. These books can either be acquired through me and you can refund me the price, or you can purchase them on amazon.com. Again, I am honoured to be your teacher and fellow partner in your progress to becoming a mature pianist. May God bless you with health, joy and prosperity always. Sincerely yours, Francesca piano teacher
