    About FlorLouise E.

    Hi! My name is FlorLouise Edouard. I have a passion for people, food and literature. I believe food, before anything else, have the power to unite people of all cultures, backgrounds, and interests. I love food. I love to cook. I love meeting new people, sharing my culture with them, and learning all about theirs from them. I prepared my first meal when I was seven years old with the help of my mother, and my love for cooking has only intensified since then. Throughout college, I worked at restaurants specializing in Italian, Mexican, and traditional American cuisine. These experiences have given me a broader, more extensive knowledge of food, food preparation, wine, wine and food pairing, cooking methods and tricks, as well as food and service etiquette. With my assistance, my students come to better understand the fundamentals of cooking such as selecting the right ingredients, spices, herbs, healthy alternatives, etc; they master proper food handling and preparation techniques; they experience traditional Haitian cooking; and they learn about serving and storing food. As for my language background, I was born and raised in Haiti. My first language is Haitian Creole, and my second French. English and Spanish were later introduced to my curriculum in secondary school. Living in the US for the past twelve years has affected those skills. Although I am still fluent in Haitian Creole, my English has surpassed everything else, Haitian Creole included. My passion for literature however, has helped me in retaining French despite the lack in demand for it in my everyday life. I now teach beginner and intermediate students.
