As a Casting Associate, theatre instructor, and former actor, I've worked with children in musical theatre, commercials, and film/TV. My favorite part about coaching children is their ability to embrace the funny, silly, most creative parts of who they are!

I'm excited to help your child prepare for a musical theatre audition, create a self-tape for a commercial or film/TV role, put together a reel, or create a book of songs, scenes and monologues that they love to perform. As an instructor, I lead with kindness, empathy and warmth; I believe that if a student comes to lessons excited to learn and explore, they will get SO much more out of our time together.

For working child actors, we can explore material at a deeper level and really help prepare your child to succeed in a professional setting. Since so much of our industry has shifted online, we can work to create a dance, voice and acting reel, coach audition sides, and discuss marketing strategy.

About Fiona M.

I'm a Casting Associate with a background as a working Actors Equity Association actor. I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Montclair State University and have extensive training in voice, acting and dance. I've spent the past ten years performing on stages in NYC and across the United States and Canada and appeared in the television series Over the Rainbow with Andrew Lloyd Webber. Now, working in casting, I have a unique perspective on what works in an audition room (or virtual audition!) and how to help students shine in any setting.

I believe that when we start training from a place of joy and exploration, students will gain so much more from their lessons than just technical skills. I'm here to help them find that joy and exploration while catering to each student's needs and goals (and having a LOT of fun!).

For insightful feedback, I always connect with Fiona. Her years of experience as a child performer who went through the rigorous application process for post-secondary education, followed by her own inspiring career as a performer, and now as someone who sits on many audition panels, she offers an informed perspective that is useful for performers of any level. The love she has for musical theatre radiates through all of her work and she brings an incredible generosity to her teaching. She is someone you can count on!!

Fiona is an exceptional teacher! She has worked with some of my younger students and not only has the knowledge of the art, but the patience and kindness to communicate it in an engaging manner. I highly recommend any class she is offering.

While only in her 20s, Fiona is already a seasoned entertainment professional. Her career has ranged from teaching, to performing, to now sitting on the other side of the table as a casting associate, Fiona has a wide range of industry knowledge. Her passion for art gives her a keen eye to zero in on even the smallest of details. She’s helped me prep for theatre, film, television, and commercial auditions. Fiona’s direct but kind approach allowed me to feel so comfortable in the studio so I could easily discover knew choices. I can’t recommend her enough!

Fiona is incredibly knowledgeable about what a person is right for when they walk into a room, building confidence, showing casting exactly who you are, and not selling yourself short. Fiona is encouraging and never makes you feel bad about yourself. She is the ultimate advocate for you and believes in you 100%. I never feel self conscious around her and when I doubt myself she immediately pulls me out of that horrible feeling and redirects me into a positive headspace. Fiona has made me feel ready to audition and I can’t wait to continue learning from her.

*Couldn’t recommend enough!!* My lessons with Fiona are always fun, yet productive. I used to rent a practice room and meet with her in person, but since the pandemic we have switched to online only. I feel very safe and free to try new things during our lessons, and she is always giving me new directions and tactics to work with. You can tell she loves what she does and gets really into helping you figure out what is the best way to represent yourself, while encouraging you to try things outside of the box. On top of all of this, the way she gives feedback is informative, professional, and precise. I feel much more confident in filming auditions and walking into audition rooms after my time with Fiona. Thank you Fiona!
