    About Felizia H.

I will always cherish my time at Bernice Johnson’s Cultural Arts Center in Queens, New York, where I received my stage training/presence, confidence, and love of the Arts, through formal dance training. It started when I was three years old. My career as the poet/spoken word artist began in 2003, after I opened for Def Poetry Jam on Broadway at Atlanta’s Fox Theater. From there, I opened for the U.S. Human Rights Network National Conference; I was on Robert Townsend’s “Spoken” on The Black Family Channel; and was a performer and panelist at Oakhurst Medical Center's Hip Hop Health Summit held at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Performing Arts Center. I did countless performances and workshops at colleges and events across the nation, teaching about writing, speaking, performing, and Black studies. I began creating my own poetry books and helping other poets create their books, through my company. I edited books; and taught grant writing; and helped people overcome stage fright; and showed them how to book speaking engagements. I recorded two CDs and one DVD, and began selling my company's t-shirts and other poetry products. Next, I started a non-profit organization called Griotsville Foundation for the Arts, where we did a monthly, family friendly, open-mic, with storytelling, and had it set up like an African Village, with drummers, children, elders, and good vibes. We did community workshops and benefit events too. By 2008, I had written and published my first novel called MANJANI, and spoke at Book Expo America in Los Angeles, CA when it was released. I began teaching everything I had learned about writing and publishing at College of Coastal Georgia to Continuing Education students, in addition to running my own publishing company. During that time, I was also published under different pseudonyms/brands, and became interested in teaching private clients how to write, publish, and perform ... so I got trained as a money/business coach. As a coach, I created lots of home study products, taught lessons during teleseminars, and wrote business and self-improvement books. The entire time, I was the homeschooling mom of a son, who recently (2018) took the SAT and scored a 700 on the Language/Writing part. That's the 95th percentile! Let me help you Free Your Voice!
