Guitar with Felix P.

I am a guitarist and bassist with over 12 years of experience playing in various rock, metal, and jazz bands in the Bay Area. Currently I play lead guitar and sing in a post-hardcore band as well as manage a record label I started with my friends. I have given lessons on and off for the past 10 years, with former students now playing in bands of their own. As a grad student in computer engineering, I have been interested in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to create music and art. Beginner students can expect to improve their skills weekly through various warm-up and dexterity-building techniques as well as through learning their favorite songs; I want my beginning students to learn more about what inspired them to pick up the guitar in the first place. More experienced students interested in rock/metal can expect to learn the fundamentals of improvisation and how their favorite guitarists can construct a solo through music theory. In addition I will help students develop techniques required for advanced lead guitar playing including: navigating the fretboard using modal scales, legato, basic sweep-picking, fast alternate-picking, etc. If you want to learn how to shred, I can help you on your way! My personal goal as an instructor is to help students develop a passion for the guitar and inspire them to learn and create on their own.
