My love for teaching comes from having lived in several countries: India, Brazil, Taiwan, Japan, Kuwait, UAE, and I currently live in Long Beach, California. I speak 6 languages, and am fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Konkani, and ASL. I'm currently in the process of getting my Masters degree in Spanish-language education, and tutoring is a joy every, single day :) I graduated from USC (University of Southern California) with a Bachelors degree in Linguistics, which is the science of language. With this degree, I've learned how to break down languages for different types of learners (each of us learn so differently!) I was previously an interpreter in these three languages as well. I learned (and really practiced) HOW to teach a language so they have their own "aha" moments. I believe in creating the right, nurturing environment for my students where they 1) have fun and 2) feel excited about their own progress. I've tutored for the past 10 years- students ages 6 - 50. My specialty lies in bringing together not just the language, but all the aspects of language that make it interesting: culture, music, art, dance, history, colloquialism. I deeply believe in personalized learning and as such, tailor each lesson plan for my students interests. There's so much to share! Feel free to ask me any and all questions- I'm happy to respond!

From my first Spanish lesson with Evangeline, I felt at ease—she made it safe to make mistakes and learn at my own pace. Before working with her, I believed I was unequivocally “bad at languages.” I’d reluctantly fumbled my way through high school and college French courses and later flailed when I tried to learn German at a university-affiliated extension program. How did this classroom model seem to work for everyone else and not me? At the same time, I was determined to learn Spanish. Anxious about taking classes for fear of repeating bad experiences, I sought a tutor. Admittedly, I initially reached out to her because she has excellent credentials. But I quickly learned that, more than her resume, it is her warm, empathic, creative, and curious approach to teaching that make her an exceptional tutor. Working with Evangeline for six months, I went from speaking only the most basic Spanish required of any Los Angeles resident to comfortably expressing myself to strangers in Spanish-speaking countries. I can say with zero hesitation that Evangeline cured me of my “bad at languages” belief. She empowered me and instilled a new confidence in my language-learning ability. While I may not be fluent in any new languages (yet!), in so many ways, this shift in mindset opened the world to me. I’m eternally grateful!
Evangeline is amazing! I have twin boys who have been working with Evangeline for the past 2 years and they say she is the best tutor! They actually look forward to sessions with her. She makes the lessons engaging and goes out of her way to ensure they fully understand the material. They have both received A’s in Spanish because of their dedicated tutor. Highly recommend!
Evangeline is the best tutor ever! She is my spanish tutor and she is better than any tutor I have ever had. She makes sure that I fully understand the topic that I am learning and she teaches the topic in such a fun and exciting way. Evangeline has made me love spanish so much and I am now fluent in spanish. I get so excited when I have spanish lessons and she is always ready to help me whenever in need.
