I started playing clarinet in 5th grade. I was fortunate to receive private clarinet lessons from 6th to 8th grade. I realized getting private lessons made performing in school more enjoyable. Once I had one-on-one help to learn proper clarinet embouchure, hand positioning, air support, posture, articulation, tone, and much more, I was able to be more expressive in my playing. I played out of clarinet method books to practice my technique and played duets with my teacher to push my own capabilities. Now that I have 14 years of clarinet performing experience, I'd like to share my experience with my students.
I've performed as a clarinet soloist with San Joaquin Delta College. I've also performed in wind bands, collegiate honor bands, musicals, chamber music ensembles, and clarinet choirs.
I like to teach in group settings as well. I am the woodwind music coach for Bellflower High School's marching band. I've been a clarinet section coach at the Bob Cole Honor's Festival. I've also coached clarinet sectionals at East Whittier Middle School.
