My name is Evan, I am a North Carolina based guitarist and producer. I have been gigging since age 10, playing a variety of music at an advanced level, from Rock, Country, Bluegrass, Praise & Worship, Funk, R&B, there isn't a genre around I wouldn't want to play or teach. I am well versed in different playing styles on both electric and acoustic guitar, as well as doing some songwriting and amateur producing in my home studio. As a lifelong musician, there is nothing I love more than passing on the things I've learned in my career to others. After picking up a guitar around age 6, I have had a rather non-traditional musical education, moving from lessons that were too easy, to teachers that didn't teach the right things (in my opinion), to teaching myself what I could outside of lessons. And after 15 years of experience, I know what it is that beginner guitarists should be learning, and want to provide novice musicians with the kind of knowledge I wish I would have had when starting out. The biggest problem I see novice guitarists running into is learning the WHAT, but not the WHY and the HOW. Just learning to play songs, chords, and scales alone without learning how they are constructed, or how it all fits together, or how to read it on a tab sheet or chart can cripple your progress as you advance in skill. In my lessons, I will help you learn not just how to play your favorite music, but provide you the tools necessary to understand guitar playing and music on a deeper level, without getting bogged down in theory. Even if you've never picked up a guitar before, I can help you on your way, with a little basic technique and a few notes, you could be playing a song on your first lesson!
