Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate
Tired of the way your band director explains things? Returning to your horn after a long hiatus? Whatever the case may be, I'm here to help you become the best you can be and achieve your artistic goals. Each of my lesson plans are unique and aim to meet the individual needs of the student. I will guide you through fundamentals such as technique and tone while emphasizing the importance of musicality in what can seem like tedious exercises. We can cover everything including scales, traditional theory, classical repertoire, jazz theory, jazz improvisation, and so much more. We can also learn any songs you request! It's important to have fun with this and to play the music that you want to play.

My name is Evan McGlennen and I am a 2017 graduate of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School. While in school, I studied extensively with two-time Grammy award winner Eric DeFade. I continued to study with Eric through the summer of 2015 while completing the Carnegie Mellon Pre-college music program. In the following summer, I was awarded a full tuition scholarship to the Berklee College of Music 5-week summer intensive. While attending the 5-week, I studied with Harry Skoler, Lance Van Lenten and other Berklee College of Music Faculty.

Today, I freelance around the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas playing a variety of styles on multiple woodwinds. I come from a large family so I'm very good with kids and can explain things in multiple ways. I'm very easy to talk to and want to help students discover their passion for this incredible art form.
